Winter is in full swing, and for many of us, that means the long-awaited ski season. Gliding down freshly snow-covered slopes, the crunch of snow beneath your skis, and the crisp mountain air—skiing isn’t just a sport, it’s a passion. It’s easy to run into collisions here with fellow ski enthusiasts, both big and small.
But what should I actually do if there’s property damage or personal injury on the slopes?
Personal liability insurance covers not only potential injuries to others but also property damage caused on the slopes. This can include damage to equipment, ski lifts, or other facilities. This coverage ensures that the financial burden of an accident does not fall solely on the shoulders of the person responsible. IMPORTANT! Since January 2022, it has been mandatory to provide proof of valid personal liability insurance if you wish to hit the slopes in Italy and South Tyrol. Failure to provide proof of insurance coverage may result in fines ranging from €100 to €150. Don’t forget to include your family members, who must be covered under your liability insurance policy!Don't forget to take care of yourself, too!
While liability insurance covers damages to third parties, it does not cover you if you are the injured party following an accident. How can I protect myself in this situation? Accident insurance, which is valid around the clock and worldwide, covers, among other things, cash benefits in the event of a permanent physical impairment (disability), immediate benefits in the event of a serious injury, compensation for pain and suffering, search, rescue, and recovery costs, and many other benefits in the event of an accident.
